The weekend comes early! Due to the national holiday, we decided to start the weekend earlier. Despite a busy time exam period for the hard-working student, everyone needs a break in a while.

Thursday

One of Denmark’s naughtiest rappers, TopGunn, is visiting Aarhus for a concert at the Australian Bar. And as most people are off from school and work the next day, it is bound to be an all-nighter. Tickets bought in the door, 80 kroners.

Friday

Denmark’s biggest art event, Sculpture by the Sea, is starting this weekend. Every other year about 60 sculptures are taken out from museums and displayed in the open. The exhibition is open for one month, starting the 5th of June. Join the opening show for a free concert with the soul artist Ankah.

Curious about how radio is made? Today you can find out. The podcast Planet Mundus is throwing a live radio show dedicated to women at the Student House (all in English). Among the guest we find the feminist DJ collective KaPow Collective and Rosita Ahmadian, a UN Human Rights Activist from Iran. More info here.

Saturday

While Copenhagen people are enjoying the four day long street festival Distortion, the people of Aarhus have one of their own: Vestergadefest. With decent offers for food and drinks and Danish upcoming bands playing, it’s bound to be a good day. Also, the weather is on our side, where the reports say it’s gonna be one of the hottest days this week. Not done after a day of hygge – check out one of the afterparties at Grisk where several DJs will be guiding you through the night.

The mini festival Aarhus Pride celebrating diversity is on this Saturday for the fourth year in a row. Watch the short film Boy for free at the Music House or check out some of the bands playing. The official afterparty is at Train where you can experience a true burlesque cabaret.

Down for a new and cheap outfit for your upcoming summer festivals? Check out the Student House’s secondhand bazaar, or the outside flea market in Mølleparken.
